Department Introduction

The Department of English Language and Literature strives to fulfill its mission through dynamic and effective educational activities, in light of the ever-increasing role and importance of this language in the contemporary world.

Currently, the department admits students at three levels: the Bachelor’s degree with a focus on English Language and Literature, the Master’s degree, and the Doctoral degree with two specializations—English Language and Literature and English Language Teaching. Starting 2014, the department has also added admission for the Master’s degree program in English Translation to its list of specializations.

Program Introduction

The Bachelor’s program in English Language was established with the goal of developing the four core language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), familiarizing students with English literature, and nurturing their literary talents and interests.

Furthermore, given the growing needs of the academic community to supply its own faculty and achieve self-sufficiency in cultivating dedicated and specialized professionals, the necessity of establishing graduate programs in this field became increasingly evident. Currently, the department admits students at the Master’s and Doctoral levels in three specializations: "English Language Teaching," "English Language and Literature," and "English Translation."
